Special promo: includes the TC40 carbon fiber tripod FREE.
A 15 lb harmonic mount that carries 44 lb of telescope without a counterweight
Why we like the AM7:
- Room to grow: 20kg (44lb) of telescope and camera with no counterweight, or 30kg (66lb) with one, on a 6.75kg (14.9lb) head. It's the mount to buy when you don't want to outgrow it.
- Precision you can check: periodic error is held within ±10″, and every AM7 ships with its own measured periodic error test report.
- Fewer snagged cables: DC power and a USB-C port on the saddle let you power and connect the camera and ASIAIR right at the scope.
- What we tell customers: a heavy telescope on a light carbon tripod needs a stable base. Use the weight bag, spread the legs on firm ground, and keep heavy setups out of strong wind.
The ZWO AM7 Harmonic Equatorial Mount with TC40 Tripod is ZWO's highest-capacity strain wave (harmonic) GoTo mount. It works in equatorial mode for imaging or alt-azimuth mode for visual observing, has no backlash and doesn't need balancing. It's built for heavier rigs: 130–150mm refractors, 8–11" SCTs and RASAs, and long camera trains with filter wheels and off-axis guiders. This bundle pairs it with ZWO's TC40 carbon fiber tripod at no extra charge.
Key specs: 20kg (44lb) payload without counterweight · 30kg (66lb) with counterweight · ±10″ periodic error · 300:1 harmonic reduction · 0–90° latitude · equatorial or alt-az · Wi-Fi and Bluetooth · 6.75kg (14.9lb) head
In stock at our Denver-area store and ready to ship.

What you can image
- Small galaxies and planetary nebulae: the Whirlpool, Sombrero and Leo Triplet galaxies, the Ring and Cat's Eye Nebulae, with an 8" or 11" SCT or EdgeHD.
- Big nebulae with fast optics: the Rosette, Heart and Soul, and Orion Nebula with a RASA 8 or a 130–150mm refractor.
- Two scopes at once: a side-by-side rig with two cameras, within the 20kg (44lb) no-counterweight limit.
- Planets and the Moon: in alt-azimuth mode with an SCT, no polar alignment needed.
Why it's easy to set up
There's no counterweight to add below 20kg and nothing to balance. Level the tripod, set your latitude with the knob (0–60° in one position, 30–90° in the other), and polar align with the ASIAIR or the ZWO app. A magnetic hex wrench stores on the mount body so it doesn't get lost in the dark.
Control it from the included hand controller, which also runs a Wi-Fi hotspot and handles firmware updates, or connect your phone directly over Bluetooth with the ZWO Sky Atlas app. The ASIAIR connects by cable or over Wi-Fi in station mode. A status light shows red in equatorial mode and green in alt-az mode.
What to add for the best results
- 12V power (required): the mount runs on 12V DC. Use the ZWO 12V 5A adapter at home or a 12V power tank in the field.
- ASIAIR Plus: controls the mount, camera, guiding and polar alignment from your phone.
- A permanent pier instead: the AM7 with William Optics Pier Mount 90 is the steadier choice for backyard or observatory setups.
- A matching telescope: see the FF110 APO + AM7 and FF131 APO + AM7 bundles, or the Celestron EdgeHD 800.

ZWO AM7 FAQ
Is the AM7 good for beginners?
Yes, if you already know you'll be running a heavier scope. With no counterweight or balancing, and with the ASIAIR handling polar alignment and guiding, it's as easy to learn on as the smaller ZWO mounts.
What telescopes can the AM7 carry?
Anything up to 20kg (44lb) including camera, guide scope and accessories, or 30kg (66lb) with a counterweight. That covers 130–150mm refractors, 8–11" SCTs and EdgeHDs, and RASA 8 astrographs.
Do I need a counterweight?
Not under 20kg (44lb). Above that, ZWO recommends a counterweight of 10kg or less, mounted 20–30cm from the axis.
AM7 or AM5N?
The AM5N is lighter and less expensive and handles most single-scope rigs up to 15kg (33lb). Choose the AM7 for heavier setups or if you plan to grow into a larger telescope.
Is the TC40 tripod strong enough for the AM7?
Yes. The TC40 is rated for 50kg (110lb), and ZWO offers the AM7 with a free TC40. For a permanent setup with the heaviest scopes, a pier is steadier.
Can I use it for visual observing?
Yes. Switch to alt-azimuth mode and use the GoTo from the app or hand controller, with no polar alignment.
Does it need a power supply?
Yes. It runs on 12V DC, which isn't included. Use the ZWO 12V 5A adapter or a 12V power tank.
