A 1.85 lb smart telescope that images galaxies, nebulae and the Milky Way

The DWARFLAB DWARF mini is a pocket-sized smart telescope that finds, tracks and photographs the night sky for you, all controlled from the DWARF app on your phone or tablet. It weighs just 1.85 lbs (840 g), which DwarfLab calls the smallest smart telescope in the world. Set it on a tripod, tap a target, and it aligns itself, slews there and builds up a color image of nebulae, galaxies and star clusters right on your screen.
It has two cameras in one body: a 30mm f/5 telephoto lens for deep-sky objects, the Moon and the Sun, and a wide-angle camera for the Milky Way and landscapes.
What you'll see
- Nebulae: the Orion Nebula, the Lagoon Nebula, the North America Nebula and the Heart Nebula, with a built-in dual-band filter that cuts through moonlight and city glow.
- Galaxies: the Andromeda Galaxy, the Triangulum Galaxy and bright galaxy pairs like M81 and M82.
- Star clusters: the Pleiades, the Double Cluster and the Hercules Globular Cluster.
- The Moon and Sun: lunar craters, and sunspots with the included solar filter.
- The Milky Way: wide views and time-lapses with the second, wide-angle camera.
One of our customers, who had owned a Unistellar eVscope and a Seestar S50, imaged the North America Nebula on his first night with the DWARF mini and the Andromeda Galaxy on his second.
Why the DWARF mini
- Truly portable: 1.85 lbs and about 7.2 x 4 x 2.4 inches, small enough for a jacket pocket, a carry-on or a daypack.
- Fully automatic: auto alignment, GoTo, tracking, focusing and stacking, with one-tap image processing in the app.
- Two cameras: a 150mm telephoto for deep-sky objects and a 45mm-equivalent wide-angle camera for the Milky Way.
- Built-in filters: a motorized filter wheel switches between an astro filter, a dual-band nebula filter and a dark filter for automatic dark frames.
- Equatorial mode: tilt it to your latitude to avoid field rotation and take exposures of up to 90 seconds.
- All-night storage: 64 GB of built-in storage, with FITS and TIFF files for processing on your computer when you're ready.

What you'll need
- A tripod: the DWARF mini doesn't include one. The DWARF mini tripod with hydraulic head is made for it and tilts for equatorial mode, or use any sturdy photo tripod.
- A leveling base (recommended): a precision tripod leveler makes it quick to level the telescope for a fast, accurate alignment.
- A phone or tablet: the free DWARF app runs on iOS and Android.
- A USB-C power bank (optional): the battery runs about 4 hours of astrophotography, and a power bank keeps it going through a long night.

DWARF mini FAQ
Is the DWARF mini good for beginners?
Yes. There's nothing to align or focus by hand: the app guides you, the telescope finds and tracks targets, and the image builds up on your screen. It's also a great second telescope for experienced observers who want something tiny for travel.
Do I need a tripod?
Yes, a tripod isn't included. Use the DWARF mini tripod with hydraulic head or any sturdy photo tripod. A rigid tripod matters more than a tall one, since wind and vibration can blur long exposures.
Can I see planets?
The Moon looks great, and you can capture Jupiter with its four largest moons, but the 30mm aperture and 150mm focal length make planets small disks without much detail. The DWARF mini shines on nebulae, galaxies and star clusters.
Does it work from the city?
Yes, especially on emission nebulae like the Orion, Lagoon and North America Nebulae, where the built-in dual-band filter cuts through light pollution and moonlight. Galaxies look best from darker skies.
How long does the battery last?
About 4 hours of astrophotography on the built-in 7,000mAh battery, and it recharges fully in about 100 minutes with a 22W USB-C charger. You can also run it from a USB-C power bank.
Can I use it in the cold?
Yes. It's rated to operate from -4°F to 113°F (-20°C to 45°C). Charge it indoors, since charging requires 32°F (0°C) or warmer.
DWARF mini or Seestar S30 Pro?
The DWARF mini is lighter and less expensive, with the same 30mm aperture. The Seestar S30 Pro has a higher-resolution 4K camera for larger, more detailed images.
